Take a simple, sweet storyline, and throw in some fuzzy little ducks and you have the most darling books ever! I promise you and your child will fall in L.O.V.E. with Gossie and her friends. These little goslings are SO adorable and the topics are so relateable. The white background of each page makes each charming illustration come alive. I love the tiny details, the little birds and turtles and insects that are part of Gossie's little world. I'm just going to review the two that I actually own but I definitely plan on adding more to our bookshelf since they are such favorites at our house.
The first book, Gossie, tells the story of a yellow gosling, a small yellow gosling who likes to wear bright red boots. She ends up losing her boots but eventually finds them. I won't spoil the story and tell you how, but you'll love it. Warning- you might end up having to buy some bright red boots for your child after owning this story :)
After my son fell in love with Gossie I bought him Boo Boo as a present.
I must confess that I really picked this book next because the gosling was blue and blue is my son's favorite color. I'm really glad I did, because Boo Boo is a funny little duck. Boo Boo is a curious blue gosling who likes to eat and eventually ends up eating a bubble. The fact that Boo Boo was eating so much and than burping made my son laugh hysterically. The illustrator does such an amazing job of putting such expression on the little duck you can almost see Boo Boo thinking about eating the silly stuff in the book.
If you end up becoming a fan of Gossie and her friends be sure to check out the newest release in the series, Jasper and Joop! It will be available March 5!
